Geiranger Sjokolade aims to use locally made ingredients with as few food miles as possible, without compromising on the criteria for pure, high quality ingredients. We use absolutely no preservatives whatsoever or other unnatural ingredients in our chocolate production.
The fresh blueberries are picked in the majestic mountains that surround us.
The juicy raspberries are from the neighbouring town of Norddal.
The best strawberries in the world are of course from Valldal; sun ripened and hand picked along the road to Trollstigen. Our main berry supplier is Valldal Grønt (valldal.com).
The delicious flat bread is baked in another one of the Norwegian World Heritage villages: Røros (www. rorosbakern.no).
The rich blue-roan cheese, Kraftkar, from Tingvollost cheese makers in Nordmøre, was awarded a gold medal in the World Cheese Awards in Birmingham in 2011 (www.tingvollost.no).
The sweet summer honey, our main sweetener, is made by the hard-working bees at farmer’s Dale farm in Norddal (www.thehappyend.no).
In addition to the Nordic flavours, we also experiment with exciting and exotic flavours and ingredients from other countries as Geiranger has always been open to cultural influences from abroad.
The olive oil is imported from the Mediterranean region.
The whisky chocolate is based on a single malt whisky with a hint of smoke aroma from the Isle of Islay in Scotland.
The heat of the chilli is from Mexican jalapeños.
